A Pantry Ballet (Set of Score and Parts)
A Pantry Ballet (Set of Score and Parts)
Martin Kennedy
Kennedy’s 14-minute octet takes its name from A Pantry Ballet (for Jacques Offenbach) by the legendary artist Joseph Cornell. Using everyday materials, Cornell created many worlds and images within his small “shadow box” constructions. Working with a small aggregate of notes and rhythms, creators of music set out to accomplish the same goal: constructing new worlds from natural sounds. A PANTRY BALLET IN FOUR ACTS was composed for Danielle Boudrot and the Massachusetts Flute Choir, made possible with a grant from the Brannen-Cooper Fund.
