The planned 24 Etudes (ultimately 12) are presented here in alternate editions, and the process of composition to print is fully explored in the exhaustive Preface. Volume 4 also includes alternate editions of shorter Liszt works, Mazeppa, Morceau de salon, and the enigmatic Pr�lude omnitonique.
